Tarte Bling It On Amazonian Clay Blush Palette

When I first laid my eyes on the Tarte Bling It On Amazonian Clay Blush Palette ($62 SGD) at Sephora, I felt my breath catch, and it seemed like the palette was calling my name. “Regina… Regina…” Ok, I exaggerate. But you get my point. 😉

I wanted to splurge on one of the holiday sets this year so I decided to go with this blush palette because I have always been a fan of Tarte blushes and I have never owned any of Tarte’s blush palettes before. For Holiday 2015, Tarte came out with this gorgeous blush palette with shades mostly leaning warm toned.

What you need to know:

  • This blush palette contains a mix of new shades and old favorites from Tarte’s iconic Amazonian clay blush line.
  • 3 brand new shades: Fetching (rose), Smashing (coral pink), Beaming (apricot pink)
  • 2 old favourites favorites: Dollface (cool pink), Prim (plum nude)
  • Each blush contains 0.15 oz.
  • Product is formulated without Parabens and Phthalates and dermatologist tested.
  • Limited edition for Holiday 2015.
  • Made in China. 🙁

First off, I simply love how sparkly the packaging is. It’s made of glitter you guys. G-L-I-T-T-E-R. 😀 But sadly I detest how rough the glitter packaging feels on my hands and how the black glitter flakes off the palette. 🙁 I appreciate the lightness and compactness of the palette though. I would bring this with me the next time I go on vacation! As the magnetic closure of the packaging is not that secure, I would recommend storing this palette in the box packaging to ensure that the palette does not accidentally open.

Fetching is a medium rosy-pink matte blush. This shade would suit light to darker skintones best. It can be used on fair skintones as well, but be sure to use it with a light hand!
Dollface is a bright cool-toned pink matte blush. This shade looks beautiful on fair skintones as the bubblegum pink colour brightens the face and the result is indeed very doll faced!
Prim is a rosy brown matte shade that leans very brown on me. I use this as a bronzer, when I want a bit of colour on my face. I can’t use this as a blush as it will look very unflattering on my NC10 skin (yeah, MAC doesn’t even have my shade).
Smashing is a peachy-pink matte shade. It would look amazing on all skintones.
Beaming is a soft peach shade with shimmer. This colour would look amazing on fair skintones as it adds some colour to your face without looking too over-done. Fair skinned girls would know the frustration whenever we over apply blush and end up looking like clowns.

The pigmentation was great for all the blushes except Beaming. With Fetching, Dollface, Prim and Smashing, I found it easy to achieve a sheer wash or true to pan colour payoff. In fact, the first time I applied Fetching, I overdid my blush as it was so pigmented! However, Beaming required me to go back into the pan two or three times to get my desired level of opacity on the cheeks. All five shades applied smoothly and evenly, with no signs of patchiness.

These are relatively long-lasting, about 7-8 hours before fading on me. But they definitely do not live up to the “12 hour” claim. Unfortunately, there isn’t a whole lot of variety in the shade range, so those looking for more unique colours might be disappointed.

As mentioned above, this palette is made in China which I’m not too happy about. I’m kind of a snob when it comes to makeup. If I’m going to buy something from Sephora and I always make sure it’s made in USA or France. The prices of makeup in Singapore is not cheap so if I’m splurging, I might as well get something made in USA right?

It is worth noting that although Tarte claims that this palette contains five full-sized blushes, they are actually not full-sized compared to the regular Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blushes. The regular blushes contain 0.2 oz whereas each blush in this palette contains 0.15 oz. Nevertheless, the Tarte Bling It On Amazonian Clay Blush Palette is still a good value as you get to try five different blushes without breaking the bank.

Available now in Sephora Singapore, while stocks last.
