I have been eagerly anticipating the launch of Givenchy’s Rouge Interdit Vinyl Lipsticks since last year when I heard Givenchy will be launching new lipsticks in 2016. The wait is finally over! Meet the new Givenchy Rouge Interdit Lipstick ($48 SGD) that is infused with black rose oil to give your lips high shine and a plumped up effect.
I tried the shade 06 Rose Sulfureux which is described as a “vivid intense pink”. I’m instantly drawn to pink shades so I knew I’d love Rose Sulfureux. What more, anything that promises “high-shine color to blur away all the lips’ tiniest imperfections and reflect the light” is something that is bound to make my ears prick up. I have very dry lips, hence, I need all the moisture I can get. I can’t even wear liquid lipsticks for two consecutive days because that would result in my lips peeling.
You can’t argue with how gorgeous the packaging is! The lipstick is housed in a sleek case with the word Givenchy on it. To open the case, simply pull out the metallic satin ribbon which is inspired by the House’s fashion designs.
One swipe gives a sheer wash of colour, while multiple swipes deliver a rich, shiny vibrant pink colour on my lips. I love how this lipstick can be sheer and yet pigmented, depending on how you build it. However, I’ll admit that it is difficult to get precision with this lipstick due to the shape of the bullet. But that can be easily fixed with a lip brush. 🙂 The lipstick felt extremely comfortable on the lips and lasts about 3-4 hours on me. It’s not the most long lasting lipstick but usually with more moisturizing formulas, the lipstick tends to last a shorter period of time. An unfortunate trade-off.
One of the most unique shades from the line that is a must to check out would be 16 Noir Révélateur. It’s designed to go over any lipstick to darken them or over the natural lip colour. The lipstick will adjust to the wearer’s own PH balance so will look different on everyone! It may turn mauve on some people and plum on others. You can find swatches of almost the full range over on my friend Jerlene’s blog.
Bottom line: At $48 a pop, the Givenchy Rouge Interdit Vinyl Lipsticks are by no means cheap. If you want a glossy and moisturizing lipstick with super luxe packaging, you will love these lipsticks!

The gorgeous Isabel (@prettyfrowns) with the Givenchy models. One of them even looks like Edward Cullen, don’t you think? Yup, now you know why Givenchy has the best events.
