When Marc Jacobs launched the Air Blush in July, I watched every YouTube review of it and everyone raved about it. Needless to say, I immediately added it onto my Birthday Wishlist. I simply had to find out if the hype was real for myself.
So, for my 22nd birthday, I did a huge haul and the Marc Jacobs Air Blush in 504 Kink & Kisses ($42 USD / $68 SGD) was one of them. On the website, it’s said to be an “ultra-lightweight, radiant powder is nearly undetectable to the touch, and gives your skin a radiant finish. Air Blush is created using a process called soufflage (French for “air-whipped”) for a silky-soft, cream-like texture that blends effortlessly with the complexion.”
Now, I had extremely high hopes for this blush because it’s not cheap and it’s Marc Jacobs! I love the #Instamarc Light Filtering Contour Powder so naturally the blush has to be equally amazing right?! Silly me dropped the box packaging onto the blush while taking pictures. Sigh. The dent on it is breaking my heart. 🙁
504 Kink & Kisses is the perfect warm pink that will suit all skintones. If you are unsure which shade to get form the range, this is a safest option! The texture is really smooth and beautiful. I can’t describe it but it literally feels like nothing.
The blush wasn’t very pigmented when I swatched it, and I had to go back and forth to the pan multiple times to achieve the swatch below. However, it’s not sheer at all when applied with a brush. 🙂 After using this blush a few times, I noticed on my 4th time using it, it applied very patchy. There were places on my cheek where there was completely no blush! I ended up having to dip my brush back into the pan multiple times and ended up with clown cheeks. -.-
I’m not sure if it’s a one time thing, I used the brush with the blush previously and it applied smoothly. It couldn’t have been my foundation either because the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation gives the most flawless finish.
Other than this incident, previous times when I applied the blush, it gave crazy pigmentation and smooth, even application. It lasted for ages, almost 12 hours I believe. I’ll continue testing this blush and update this post if necessary. 😀 There are 5 shades in the Marc Jacobs Air Blush line so I’m sure you will find a shade that is to your liking. 🙂
In the end, if we overlook the one time the blush failed on me, the Marc Jacobs Air Blush in Kink & Kisses earns praise for delivering the rich pigmentation and long-lasting wear as promised. Although pricey, if you can find a color you like, it’s worth a try! The formula and pigmentation are top notch and they blend really beautifully.
I hope you find the review helpful! Have you tried the Marc Jacobs Air Blushes and encountered problems with it? Let me know in the comments!
