Neutrogena’s new sunscreens has got me covered!

If you’ve been following me for awhile, you know I can’t live without sunscreens. I have cool fair skin so I don’t get tanned. I get freckles. 🙁 Freckles are the bane of my existence. I know, I probably should just embrace them back I would rather not have them. 😛 I put on sunscreen every day, it is a non-negotiable item in my skincare routine. Today, I’m excited to share with you all the various sunscreens available from Neutrogena. I usually buy high-end sunscreens so this was my first time trying drugstore sunscreens.

Neutrogena sunscreen review

Neutrogena sent over some sunscreens for me to try and I’m very much impressed by the wide array of sunscreens that Neutrogena has. They cater to the different needs. Maybe you are the sporty girl or you are the girl on a hunt for a sunscreen to wear under your makeup. Read on to find out which sunscreen is best for you!

neutrogena ultra sheer dry-touch sunblock review
Out of the five sunscreens I’ll be reviewing, two are new releases. The Sheer Zinc Dry Touch SPF50+ PA++++ and Beach Defense SPF70 PA++++ are both new to Neutrogena’s sunscreen range.

Neutrogena Sheer Zinc Dry Touch SPF50 PA++++ ($31.90 SGD) is a new release from Neutrogena. It’s a mineral sunscreen, which means it’s made of 100% zinc oxide, making it a super effective sun-protective shield. Given the choice, I will always choose a mineral sunscreen instead of a chemical one. Whenever I buy sunscreens, I look for products that contain zinc oxide, or a combination of zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. I prefer mineral sunscreens because they work by reflecting away the sunlight instead of being absorbed into the body. Hence, this would be my favourite sunscreen out of the five, solely because of its ingredients. 🙂 I’m pleased to say that this sunscreen is light, easy to blend and absorbs quickly. It’s completely sheer and devoid of any noticeable scent, so even sunscreen haters will have a hard time finding anything to complain about. Perhaps the only downside would be that it’s not water resistant.

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50 ($21.25 SGD) is not new to the market. It’s a great every day sunscreen that is suitable for the face and body. It has a slight scent which fades away after a while. One of the major pros of this sunscreen would be the fact that it’s a water resistant face sunscreen. Your new best friend for lazy pool days. 😉

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Complete UV Water Light Lotion SPF 50+ PA+++ ($20.90 SGD) claims to be a “superior ultra-lightweight protection lotion against UV and environmental aggressors for healthy, beautifully radiant skin.” The first time I tried it, I fell in love with the formula. Yes, it is indeed ultra-lightweight, much like the Shiseido Perfect UV Protector and Kate Somerville’s Daily Deflector Waterlight Broad Spectrum SPF 50. If you’re familiar with those sunscreens, this sunscreen feels the same but it comes at a fraction of the price! Before using, be sure to shake the bottle well. This formula is incredibly runny and the moment I poured it on the back of my hand, it started to slide about. This blends beautifully, absorbs well and makes a very good makeup base. Plus it isn’t the least bit oily or greasy.

Neutrogena Beach Defense SPF70 PA++++

Neutrogena Beach Defense SPF70 PA++++ ($24.90 SGD) comes in a whopping 198ml bottle. As it has high SPF and is water resistant, it is ideal for a beach day. Truthfully, I avoid beaches/outdoor activities at all costs unless necessary. My skin is rather sensitive and due to numerous reasons that I shall not delve into, I cannot be under the sun for too long. Hence, I can’t attest that this sunscreen will completely protect you during a full day out in the sun. But as always, it’s wise to reapply sunscreen every three hours. This sunscreen has a slight floral scent that I liked. It’s pleasant and nothing overwhelming. It is slightly thicker in consistency compared to the other sunscreens, but it doesn’t take too long to blend. 🙂 There is a little white cast but it is not something that bothers me.

Neutrogena CoolDry Sport Sunscreen Spray Broad Spectrum SPF 70
The CoolDry Sport Sunscreen Spray Broad Spectrum SPF 50 is a sunscreen spray. Out of all the sunscreens, it’s the easiest to apply and fastest to absorb. This claims to be sweat and water resistant. I live in a place where stepping out for five minutes leaves me melting like an ice cream on a hot summer day, this product sounds pretty much perfect. It is a good sunscreen for those in a hurry, and have no time to blend their sunscreen and wait for it to absorb. This sunscreen needs minimal blending and absorbs in a minute.

Neutrogena Sheer Zinc Touch Sunscreen
Remember, while sunscreens will protect your skin from the harsh rays, it’s best not to stay out in the sun for prolonged periods of time. With the wide range of sunscreens, Neutrogena has got me covered. No more freckles — woohoo! 😀 Neutrogena sunscreens can be found at Guardian, Market Place, Unity and Watsons outlets and selected Cold Storage and FairPrice outlets in Singapore.

P.S. You get a sun hat with $30 purchase of Neutrogena products!

Have you ever tried Neutrogena sunscreens? Would love to hear everyone’s favourite sunscreen!
