I was recently at Shopee‘s media event where I met Taiwanese celebrity makeup artist and founder of BeautyMaker, Kevin 老师! I had a lovely time at the event and it was the first time I was introduced to BeautyMaker products. They have the cutest packaging, especially the Pink Sweety Cheek Stains.
Today, I’ll be reviewing the three products I received in my press kit! 🙂
First, we have the BeautyMaker Oil Free Long Lasting primer ($19.90 SGD). I mentioned previously that this primer is unlike the usual silicone primers, but once I read the ingredient list, I realized that this contains silicones so it is actually a silicone primer! The primer comes out as a pearly pink runny liquid and the scent reminds me a little of baby lotion. Though the scent wasn’t very overpowering, I’m glad it doesn’t linger on the skin.
Description: Oil Free Long Lasting Primer is formulated with anti-oil complex help to control shine over time, preps skin and minimizes the appearance of pores and imperfections. Combined with immediate and long-lasting visible coverage to create a soft focus effect that instantly improves the overall look of skin. Foundation that applied follows can stay on the skin nicely and last longer.
I applied the primer after my usual skincare, before my foundation. Primers are an important step for me as they prep the skin and give it something to hold onto so it lasts throughout the day. The initial finish is somewhat tacky, but it is nothing too bothersome. I tested the primer on one side of my face and found that although it claimed to minimize the appearance of pores, I could hardly tell a difference between the two sides of my face. 🙁 However, the primer did make my foundation glide on smoother and faster.
People will oily skin will appreciate this primer as it doesn’t have the slippery feeling that some silicone primers have. This primer is meant to reduce oiliness, but given that I’m not prone to it, I didn’t notice any difference.
Overall, the Oil Free Long Lasting Primer did a pretty good job of keeping my makeup on all day. This is a nice primer with SPF and it’s currently on discount. It’s $19.90 on Shopee instead of the usual $27.90. Really affordable, I must say. I’m wearing it under my foundation in the photo below.
I received the Caviar Elastic Perfect Golden Cushion ($38 SGD) in the shade Beige. I believe there are only two shades, Ivory and Beige. Sadly, the shade range is rather limited. I contemplated testing this on my face but the shade was way off so I decided not to. It would mean that I would have to walk around looking like an Oompa Loompa from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Excuse my nails in the above picture, I’m in need of a manicure.
I love how the packaging is unlike other cushions in the market. Instead of the usual sponge, the foundation comes out through a small hole. You can easily dispense just the right amount you need for your face, ensuring that there will be no wastage of product. 🙂 Also, can we talk about how pretty the rose gold and black combination is? TOO PRETTY.
This cushion contains 24k gold which is supposed to be an anti-aging ingredient. I don’t know the science behind it, but let’s take it with a pinch of salt alright? According to the website, the gold is said to speed up cellular processes and activating regeneration, leading to less visible wrinkles, fine lines and firmer skin. I can’t vouch for the effectiveness of the anti-ageing but this cushion is great for those looking for light to medium coverage with a dewy finish.
My favourite, I have to say, is the Photoshop Perfecting Concealing Brush ($22.90 SGD). This firm, rounded concealer brush keeps cream and powder just where you want it, allowing you to stipple on the product effortlessly. The round tip is supposed to mimic fingertips to apply concealer to the under-eye area precisely. It is dense with stiff yet soft bristles which work well on blemishes. The round head makes it easy to tap concealer over any scars and imperfections. Don’t be fooled by this photo, the brush head is actually smaller than my thumb. That’s how small it is!
Good news, I have a discount code just for my readers!
